Fair Housing Justice Program Overview

The Fair Housing Justice program, led by Cultiva Central Valley in partnership with Michigan Institute of Technology (MIT), UC Merced and other community organizations, is a grassroots initiative focused on dismantling housing inequities in Merced County. The program is funded through the RWJF Healthy Communities initiative and Its core mission is to:

  • Address systemic barriers such as racism, language discrimination, and predatory rental practices.

  • Advocate for equitable housing policies and stronger enforcement of fair housing laws.

  • Empower residents—especially monolingual, immigrant, and low-income communities—to become active civic participants and help shape housing policies for their in their communities
